1. Dog and Oyster Giant Corkscrews

Dog and Oyster Vineyard

170 White Fences Drive, Irvington, VA, USA

You know you’ve arrived at the Dog & Oyster Vineyard once you see the two giant 40-foot corkscrews framing the property. Don’t be shy: take a picture and then head into the vineyard to sample wines and rub the bellies of the rescue dogs honored in the vineyards name.

At the outdoor kitchen of SLURP, enjoy raw, roasted and fried oysters by Chef Stuart Tyson, paired with a glass of vineyard Shelter Dog Rosie pairing local grapes with local seafood.

2. Deltaville Deltas Ball Park

Deltaville Ballpark

100 Ballpark Road Deltaville, Virginia 23043

Visit the Deltaville Deltas at their iconic stadium built in 1948 and enjoy hot dogs, cracker jacks and a good ole fashion American ball game! You won’t find big flashing screens and expensive entry fees at the Deltaville Ballpark. Instead, you’ll find a nesting osprey on top of an outfield light pole and classic food trucks.

Mark your calendar! The Deltaville Ballpark will be opening in May for another summer of FUN!

3. John Mitchell Map

Urbanna Visitors’ Center

130 Virginia St, Urbanna, VA 23175

The Famous Mitchell map is displayed at the Urbanna Museum & Visitors Center located in the Scottish Factor Store. Restored 1755, listen to the amazing story of this map that was used as recent as the 1980’s. Urbanna is steeped in history, you will see where tons of tobacco were loaded into ships to sail back to Europe.

Take a stroll down to the Urbanna Town Marina for a picture perfect view of the creek.

4. Marshall’s Drug Store

Marshall’s Drug Store

The feeling of nostalgia…and Marshall’s Drug Store offers just that, since 1929!  Step inside this old-fashioned family drugstore. The old-fashioned soda fountain style diner offers breakfast and lunch. The curved counters and the swirly stools will make you feel like you were in “Back to the Future!”

Grab an old-fashioned milkshake whilst you await your perfectly grilled hamburger. It can’t get any more American!

5. Waterman Heritage Tours

Waterman Heritage Tours

Experience the Chesapeake Bay with an authentic working waterman as your personal guide. These Captains have created on-water tours relating to the ecology of the Bay, how seafood is harvested, our waterway history and general site seeing. They even create customized tours for families. Join them for a life changing experience as you get out on our rivers and creeks to explore the River Realm. Tour sizes determined by size of each Captain’s vessel.

Check out our Captains, the stewards of the water. If you don’t get a hold of ‘em the first time, keep trying, they may just be out pulling crab pots!
