The Fellowship Committee of Christ Church Parish invites you to join us in welcoming award-winning author, historian, biographer and curator, Heath Hardage Lee, to our stage. Ms. Lee is the author of The League of Wives: The Untold Story of the Women Who Took on the U.S. Government to Bring Their Husbands Home from Vietnam.
Join us on Sunday, November 10th at 2PM at St. Clare Walker Auditorium for Lee’s lecture on the Vietnam War, the imprisonment of aviators, pilots, and other servicemen as they
languished in Vietnamese prisons for months and years. Ms. Lee will highlight the role of the Johnson Administration, the siloing of information within the State Department, the Department of Defense and the Pentagon and how the U.S. Government under Johnson hindered efforts to free our servicemen. It took the power and true grit of the military spouses with the support of President Nixon to unite and begin a vocal and forceful path to negotiate with our U.S. Government and the North Vietnamese Government to free our hostages. This exciting story of love, determination, anger, anguish and ultimate release of our prisoners illustrates the tumultuous times, the cultural changes that swept the nation as well as the doctrine going forward on POW and MIA regulations.
