Workshop: Mixology of Browns

You hear artists talk all the time about “mud”, like it’s a bad thing. It’s not. But how to you deliberately get the brown you want, and mix something vibrant, color-filled, and accurate to what you want to achieve? Bring soil, tree trunks, old shoes, wooden furniture, even the bread in a still life painting to life. In this one-day class you will learn to use the paint you already own to mix a brown that works in your painting. We will mix warm browns, cool browns, green browns, yellow browns, and red browns and even carry those browns into the dark and down into the light.
