For all you war buffs, Saluda is the home of the most decorated Marine: Lt. General Lewis “Chesty” B. Puller. Chesty is the only Marine to have received 5 Navy Crosses; he led men in combat in some of the bloodiest battles in WWI, WWII and the Korean War.
